The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has officially introduced an artificial intelligence-enabled Digital Factory Passport framework in strategic cooperation with Digital Bridge Partners. Designed to tackle rampant audit fatigue and complex international requirements, the unified digital platform automates environmental, social, and governance tracking across thousands of export-oriented units. By standardizing factory-level data collection, the system minimizes redundant compliance verifications and empowers apparel makers to seamlessly align with rigorous global sourcing mandates ahead of upcoming trade policy enforcement.
Navigating strict European market standards
With the European Union slated to enforce mandatory Digital Product Passport regulations requiring exhaustive supply chain transparency, local textile and garment exporters face mounting pressures to substantiate their sustainability claims. Embracing digital innovation is imperative to sustain long-term growth and ethical manufacturing, notes Mahmud Hasan Khan, President, BGMEA. The AI architecture aggregates fragmented production metrics - ranging from carbon footprints to labor indices - into an accessible format, ensuring that regional manufacturers maintain their competitive edge and secure continuous market access within high-value Western retail corridors without administrative friction.
Managing policy formulation and trade expansion
An apex trade body representing approximately 4,000 RMG factories, BGMEA manages policy formulation, trade expansion, and sustainability standards. It exports to major international apparel export destinations across the European Union and North America. It accelerates digital transformation and automated compliance integration across domestic manufacturing cluster.
Established in 1983 to guide the phenomenal rise of Bangladesh into a premier global garment manufacturing hub, BGMEA focuses on safeguarding and expanding the country's multi-billion-dollar export revenues through enhanced regulatory readiness.
