The technical apparel sector faces mounting regulatory pressure to eliminate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, driving material suppliers toward certified fluorine-free alternatives. Event Fabrics has executed a supply agreement with Chinese outdoor performance brand Pelliot to integrate flagship PFAS-free alpineST and windstormST laminates into upcoming commercial collections. The collaboration targets high-volume distribution across Asia, scaling lower-impact membrane solutions for extreme weather gear without compromising hydrostatic resistance or breathability.

Commercial scaling and product integration

Pelliot will deploy the plant-based, recycled-face windstormST softshell laminate in its Fall/Winter 2026 jacket line, followed by the hard-shell alpineST membrane featuring a C0 durable water-repellent finish for Spring/Summer 2027. Chad Kelly, Vice President, Event Fabrics, notes, partnering with a volume leader in the high-growth regional market establishes a benchmark for chemical transparency. Zhao Le, Vice President, Pelliot, emphasizes, transitioning away from traditional fluorinated chemistry is an operational imperative to meet evolving global environmental standards in functional apparel.
