India and Taiwan set for deeper textile synergy beyond competition says TTF President Justin Huang

Taiwan and India are uniquely positioned to build a highly complementary, cross-border textile ecosystem that leverages Taiwanese technological innovation alongside India’s abundant raw materials and vast market scale, according to Justin Huang, President of the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), speaking on the sidelines of Bharat Tex.

Reflecting on his experience at the inauguration of Bharat Tex 2026, Huang noted that the scale and execution of the event exceeded expectations, signaling India’s expanding weight in global textile value chains. He expressed confidence that Taiwanese participation in Indian industry events will grow steadily as strategic ties deepen.

Complementary strengths, not direct competition

Outlining the core dynamics of India-Taiwan textile relations, Huang emphasized that the two economies operate with distinct, non-competing advantages. Taiwan operates as an export-oriented hub focused on advanced technical materials and high-performance textiles, whereas India possesses an unparalleled raw material base and massive domestic consumption.

To capitalize on these synergies, several Taiwanese textile companies have already established active manufacturing operations across major Indian industrial hubs, including Gujarat, Bengaluru, and Tamil Nadu.

"Taiwanese firms are bringing advanced materials and technological expertise to work alongside Indian partners, not to compete with them, but to jointly serve global markets," Huang highlighted.

When asked about potential reciprocal investments, Huang clarified that Taiwan’s domestic capital focus remains heavily centered on semiconductor manufacturing and artificial intelligence. Consequently, he encouraged both sides to prioritize joint strategic ventures, technology sharing, and co-supplying international buyers rather than direct capital deployment into Taiwanese textile units.

TITAS 2026 marks 30 Years of textile R&D leadership

Extending a formal invitation to international brands and Indian industry stakeholders, Huang announced the upcoming 30th anniversary edition of the Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS) 2026, scheduled to take place from October 6–8.

Over three decades, TITAS has served as a global showcase for cutting-edge textile technologies, eco-friendly materials, automated manufacturing processes, and circular solutions developed by Taiwanese enterprises and their international facilities. The landmark 2026 edition will bring together top global retailers, material innovators, and manufacturers to celebrate 30 years of advancing high-performance textile solutions.
