Taiwan-headquartered textile manufacturer Long John Group has elevated its technical capabilities by becoming the inaugural customer to commission Karl Mayer’s state-of-the-art RDJ 7/3 Jacquard Double Needle Bar Raschel Machine. Formally brought online at the company’s Indonesian facility, the deployment aligns with an industry-wide push to upgrade manufacturing precision for global athletic labels. The advanced system features three wireless Jacquard bars, allowing production floors to engineer intricate three-dimensional structures, complex ventilation holes, and customized multi-tone patterns directly into spacer fabrics.

Integrating next-generation machinery allows us to compress development cycles while offering athletic footwear brands unprecedented design freedom for upper constructions, states Arthur Chen, Chief Operations Officer, Long John Group. Brand partners demand functional zoning and enhanced breathability without compromising structural integrity, making this machinery upgrade vital for our regional plants.

Expanding footprint across key export corridors

Long John’s strategic investment underpins its vertically integrated operations spanning spinning, warp knitting, dyeing, and finishing across facilities in Taiwan, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Having previously produced specialized spacer and stretch tricot materials for over 313 million pairs of shoes, the group continues to leverage automated engineering to capture higher margins in technical textile segments. Industry analysts note that tighter integration between automated textile mills and localized footwear assembly plants significantly reduces supply chain latency across Southeast Asian manufacturing hubs.

Targeting sustained volume growth

Long John Group is a specialized textile manufacturer operating advanced facilities across Taiwan, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia, alongside a dedicated United States sales office. The enterprise focuses primarily on high-performance footwear fabrics, producing stretch tricot uppers, linings, and advanced spacer meshes for major international athletic brands. Driven by continuous machinery modernization and vertical integration, the group targets sustained volume growth across global footwear supply chains. Established in the early 1980s, the company has scaled its output to supply materials for hundreds of millions of performance shoes worldwide.
